Starting individual therapy can be both overwhelming and relieving. Initially, we will explore your current stressors in the context of your life experiences, identify strategies to alleviate stress and address toxic beliefs and behaviors. Psychotherapy is an investment in yourself that aims to transform your life, offering peace and contentment.
Treatment consists of 1-2 times per week. Sessions are 50-55 mins.
In certain circumstances, you may choose to meet for bi-weekly sessions. Each treatment course is tailored to you and consists of in-depth psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness training, EMDR when applicable, and other various
evidenced based therapies.
In couples counseling, I customize treatment to address the couple’s needs and often start with Dr. Sue
Johnson’s book “Hold Me Tight” explores attachment dynamics. This helps partners understand their differing
attachment styles and childhood influences. I focus on conflict resolution and accountability for each partner’s
role in conflicts. Successful couples work requires patience, empathy, and a willingness to change.
By understanding each other's relationship histories, couples can better support one another and enhance their attachment. Behavioral changes can foster safety and security, leading to effective conflict resolution. Choosing to work with me means receiving professional guidance during scheduled sessions and crisis interventions as needed. As therapy progresses, less frequent sessions may be required, with “tune-ups” available upon request.
Psychoanalysis has evolved since Freud and focuses on collaborative treatment shaped by unconscious mind
content and relational interactions. This approach helps address psychological distress by rewiring past
relationship effects, fostering self-awareness, and understanding personal dynamics. While the journey can be
challenging, it leads to healing and self-discovery. Although meeting multiple times a week over several years
may seem daunting, psychoanalysis encourages a deeper exploration of underlying issues.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy is a unique treatment method that targets the brain’s
unconscious processing system similar to the way the brain processes unconscious material during REM sleep.
Through the use of eye movements, target memories, and identified emotions, we will safely and quickly change
the way you experience past trauma. This technique can be used for a variety of conditions and can be either the
primary technique or as an adjunct to more traditional talk therapy.
